Privacy Policy

Bitewise plans weekly dinners and estimates what the groceries will cost at the store you choose. This policy explains what information the app uses, why, and the choices you have. We do not sell your personal information.
Information you give us
During setup you tell us your ZIP code, preferred grocery store, household size, cooking nights, budget, eating style, diets, kitchen appliances, allergies, foods you avoid, a rough weekly dinner spend and your usual shopping day. We use these answers only to build your meal plans, estimate prices and send the reminders you turn on.
These answers, your plans, your grocery list and saved recipes are stored on your device. Bitewise does not require an account and does not ask for your name, email address or precise location. Your ZIP code is used to estimate regional prices; we never use GPS.

Your onboarding answers about allergies and diets are not sent to these services as personal profiles; analytics events record actions (for example "onboarding step completed"), not your health information.
Tracking and your choices
- App Tracking Transparency: iOS asks whether Bitewise may track you across other companies' apps and websites. If you choose "Ask App Not to Track", your advertising identifier is not shared.
- Notifications: shopping reminders are optional and can be turned off in the app or in iOS Settings.
- Withdrawing consent: you can change your tracking choice at any time in iOS Settings › Privacy & Security › Tracking, and turn reminders off in iOS Settings › Notifications. Changing these never limits what you can do in the app.
- Deleting your data: deleting the app removes everything stored on your device. To have analytics and attribution data about your device deleted by our providers, email us at the address below; we will act on your request within 30 days.
Prices and recipes
Grocery prices in Bitewise are estimates built from published data (in the U.S.: Kroger product data, U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics, a published 2025 supermarket price survey and U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis; in the UK: the Office for National Statistics; in Canada: Statistics Canada; in Mexico: Profeco). They are not prices from any store and are not live. Price estimates are calculated on your device from your postcode and chosen store; nothing about you is sent to these sources. See our Terms for full source credits. Always check ingredient labels for allergens; brands and formulations vary.
Children
Bitewise is not directed to children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect information from them.
Sharing with service providers
We share data only with the providers listed above, and only for the purposes listed. Each of them is required, under its terms with us, to give the data the same or equal protection as described in this policy. We do not sell personal information and do not share it with data brokers.
Retention and security
Information on your device stays until you delete the app. Analytics and attribution data is kept by our providers only as long as needed for the purposes above, or until you ask us to delete it, whichever is sooner. Data is transmitted over encrypted connections.
Your rights
Depending on where you live (for example California), you may have the right to know, access, correct or delete personal information and to opt out of certain sharing. Contact us to make a request; we will not discriminate against you for exercising these rights.
Changes
We may update this policy. We will change the effective date above and, for significant changes, tell you in the app.
