What Bitewise does
Bitewise suggests weekly dinner plans, recipes and a grocery list, and estimates what the groceries will cost at the store you choose.
Price estimates
Prices shown in Bitewise are estimates built from published data. They are not prices from any store and are not live. Bitewise is not affiliated with, endorsed by or connected to any grocery store or data source named here, and your checkout total will differ. Store names are used only to identify where you shop.
- United States: grocery shelf prices from Kroger’s product data at supermarkets in 10 states (compared with U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics average retail prices), a published 2025 in-store supermarket price survey, and U.S. Bureau of Economic Analysis regional price levels.
- United Kingdom: Office for National Statistics average prices (shopping prices comparison tool) and relative regional consumer price levels. Source: Office for National Statistics licensed under the Open Government Licence v.3.0. Contains OS data © Crown copyright and database right. Contains Royal Mail data © Royal Mail copyright and database right. UK stores use the area average.
- Canada: Adapted from Statistics Canada, Table 18-10-0245-01 Monthly average retail prices for selected products. This does not constitute an endorsement by Statistics Canada of this product. Provincial price levels are calculated from the same table. Canadian stores use the area average.
- Mexico / México: Procuraduría Federal del Consumidor (Profeco), “Quién es Quién en los Precios” open data (CC BY 4.0), used for average prices and for chain price levels.
- Where no official price exists for an ingredient, its estimate is the U.S. estimate multiplied by the median ratio between local and U.S. prices for ingredients that do have official prices. Piece weights for produce sold by weight come from USDA FoodData Central.
